We are back from an exciting week at Falls Creek. We left at 7 a.m. on Monday (18th), it was very early and Callen was already a tired little boy. We took a big "tour" bus to camp...so it Callen was able to move around freely and not be in a car seat. He did great on the way down there. He took two long naps and was a happy boy for the 5 hour trip. He was ready to get off the bus though when we arrived.
Once we got to camp it was time to unload. I had spent the week before packing all of Callen's things. It takes a lot to take a baby places...especially for a week with no bedding or bath stuff. So, we had to pack bedding and even a small inflatable bath tub. We had tons of toys, a tv/dvd player, food, etc. It takes a huge bus to haul all of the baby stuff. So, unloading all of this stuff and getting it placed in a corner of the cabin was job in itself.
Callen loves big kids, he always had. That is all he has ever been around. Since Jason and I do the youth group in Balko, Callen has been around teens since he was born. He doesn't really like other babies because he has never been around them. So, this past week he was in heaven because all his "friends" and girlfriends were there. I had expected to call my mom and say at some point during camp that it was time to come pick us up. However, Callen did great the entire week. It was extremely hot (100+), so we stayed in the cabin most of the time. He loved playing with the kids and the kids loved playing with him and his toys. We all loved watching endless hours of "Handy Manny," pretty sure we all have the songs memorized now!
While at Falls Creek Callen got to enjoy his first famous Falls Creek Icee. He didn't have a date however...maybe next year. He also made a new girlfriend...one of the sponsors (Tony) took up with C really well and Callen just fell for her. He would just reach and reach for her. They had fun together and such was such a big help. However, one of Callen's first loves was there and he knows how to pull on their heart strings (the Blosser family)....he loves them so very much and he was spoiled by them and the other 20 we took.
We are back home now and the bags are unpacked and the smell of camp is off of all our clothes. Callen is happy to be home and back into a routine of everyday and he is happy to be back with his cats. They missed him as much as he missed them.
While at camp, Callen started cutting his two top teeth. You can see them, they are slowly coming in. So we are up to 4 teeth. He is standing by himself more and more and his vocabulary is growing. He can say mom-ma, ba-by, da-da, and ba-ba-ba (not sure what that is). He is starting to become independent. He is fine playing by himself for a longer period of time and he seems to like how to figure things out on his own. He also is getting his father's OCD habits. He cleans while he is in the bathtub and he is learning to put his toys in the box once he is finished playing with them. He is also wanting to sleep on his own now for a longer period of time (progress) and he is smacking all the time when he sees someone eating or drinking. He still has a strong temper and it is showing more and more. He is fighting sleep like crazy and has learned to jabber and wave his arms while trying to go to sleep. He is into everything and we couldn't be more in love with our sweet little boy.
We have a new pet in our household....yes, another pet. Jason found a turtle in the road the other day and he thought Callen needed a pet turtle. It currently lives in Callen's sandbox and we feed it random things. I hate turtles so I don't get close to the thing. Callen though the turtle "Speedy" was funny and laughed and laughed at it. So, we are now up to 6 pets in our household. What fun!
Camp was great, Callen had a wonderful time. He is just changing and growing so much. While at camp he celebrated his 9 mo. b-day! I will post pictures this weekend of C's changing looks.
