Callen at Age 2.5

Hard to believe that Callen is already 2 1/2....my how this year is flying by way to quickly.  It is amazing to see how much Callen has changed and grown in just a few short months.  It is amazing to see what all he learns each and every single day.

He is really getting into talking.  He can ask questions, talk in complete (or almost complete) sentences, and he has new words and sentences every day.  It is so much fun to talk to him and to hear what he thinks or feels about things.  When we go places in the car, most of the trip is filled with conversation about what we are going to go do, what he is seeing out his window, what is movie is about, or Halle (his friend).  It is just amazing to see him put all these things together.

He loves books and loves reading the books that he has memorized.  He does a really good job reading them and even inflates his words as he reads.  I hope he continues to be a reader, it will be good for him.  He also loves puzzles and will spend a lot of his time during the day putting together his puzzles.  He still loves his trains; however, they have somewhat taken a backseat to books, flashcards and puzzles the past few days.  He also loves to have tea parties and clicks his cup to another and says, "cheers."  I know tea parties are kinda girly...but, he enjoys them and it is good for his imagination.  He is just a kid, who cares!

Callen has really started to like board games recently.  He loves Candy Land and does a great job when playing it.  He knows his colors and moves to the correct spot.  He has somewhat of a temper when he does not draw the card he wants or when the other person gets ahead of him....he learns early!

We also play outside when the weather is nice enough to get out.  He loves playing in his sandbox...more like scooping out the sand or covering up Thomas the Train.  He also loves to jump outside and race.

Letters, numbers, shapes, and colors are a breeze for Callen.  He knows every letter of the alphabet and will point them out when he sees them.  He knows his numbers and can count to 20 without problems and identify numbers up to 30.  He knows his shapes and even 3D shapes (cube, cylinder, etc.) and he knows his main colors along with some others.  He also loves to sing, he has a few songs that he knows...his favorite is 'Wheels on the Bus.'  We often find him singing and doing the motions while playing by himself.

He has somewhat moved away from technology (thank goodness) and just enjoys playing with his toys and such.

He loves animals and enjoys feeding the cows or trying to pet the cats.  Our new puppy tragically died, so he is still calling for her.  She is missed, especially by Callen.

Callen's favorite thing is playing with Halle.  He absolutely adores her and they love playing together.  It is so fun to see him play with a friend.  They are truly wonderful friends.

The issue of sleeping at night is slowly getting better.  We still have a few nights that are rough, but for the most part, he just wakes up once around 3 to 4:30 and goes right back to sleep till around 7:30 or so.  Nap time has become somewhat difficult.  Not because he doesn't need or want one, but simply the fact of not wanting to slow down to take a nap.  He usually naps for 2.5 hours or 3 hours.  Sometimes if he is really tired he will sleep almost 4 hours....that happens once every few weeks though.

Food is not an issue and he will eat any and everything.  He has even eaten spicy things the past few weeks and loved it.  He comments that it is hot and takes a drink and continues on eating.  He loves pancakes, eggs, Cheez-Its, pizza, ranch, carrots, cheeseburgers, fries, any type of meat, veggies, fruit, blackberries and cereal.

He also loves to pray.  He prays at all his meals and at night. He does a great job and it is so sweet to listen to him pray.

Callen is growing like crazy and we are probably going to have to move up to 3T pants because of length.  He is tall and skinny.  But, healthy and happy.

Callen is such a joy and is so much fun!  We love every single moment with him and we are so very blessed to have such a fun, sweet, loving and caring little boy.  I am looking forward to the next few months and the changes that are to come...I know he will continue to grow and change, and while I wish I could bottle this moment up and keep it, I know the future will be even better.
