So hard to believe that this year is almost in the books. Time is flying. So many wonderful things have happened this year....a beautiful new baby, Callen turned 3 and changed and grew so much, Jason got to call state basketball games, and I did my first 5k! Just a small review of the year.
We had a wonderful Christmas day. So sad that it is over and that the excitement of Christmas is pretty much over. Callen had a wonderful day opening presents, eating candy, and playing. He made cookies for santa and left milk for the reindeer (no idea why he thinks the reindeer need milk). He was disappointed that he did not get to see Santa...we tried explaining it to him, but he is three. Next year! His favorite present his Thomas and Friends King of the Railway track kit...the rest of the presents Santa should not have bothered with! It was fun seeing how excited he got about Christmas this year. Miss Elliot had a great Christmas too...she slept through a lot of it. But, she looked cute in her Christmas outfit. We had a simple Christmas at home and it was perfect.
We are slowly getting use to being a family of four. I am starting to adjust to being home all day with two kids. I love my job and it is such a blessing to be able to stay home with my kids and be apart of every aspect of their growing/changing/learning process. There are days that I don't think I will make it, but somehow I always do. God has blessed me with some great kids and some great friends and family that say, "hey, come over" when they know I have had a rough day or week. And I am truly blessed with a great husband that helps as soon as he gets home from work and is willing to do whatever. Callen is adjusting to being a big brother. The first few weeks were rough, I am not going to lie. He was/is use to being the center of attention and doing whatever whenever. Baby Sister has changed that. He cried and said "momma play with me" a lot the first few weeks...but, we are slowly getting use to having to share time. It broke my heart hearing him say those sad little words. We play while sister is sleeping and play as much as possible when sister is awake. I rock him almost every night and read him books...this is my favorite time of the day. Just the two of us and having our moment together. Usually he falls asleep before we have read all the books, but it is still a wonderful part of the day.
Elliot is doing great. She has had a rough few days every here and there...like all babies do. But, for the most part she is pretty good! She does randomly like to wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake for several hours (usually 3 to 3.5 hours). That makes for long nights, but she will adjust. She is still tiny...only wearing newborn size clothes. She loves her brother and it is so sweet to see him holding her and holding her hand and Elliot looking up at him. I am glad Callen loves her.
I believe we are slowly getting use to this new lifestyle. Adding another kid into the mix is not easy...however, I know in time we will get everything down and it will just be normal.
Hope everyone has a blessed new years and that Christmas was a true blessing.
