We welcomed our beautiful little girl into the world at 8:31 P.M. on November 22, 2013. She came in at 7.4 lbs. (the birth certificates says) and 20 inches long....and beautiful! We all instantly fell in love with this sweet little girl. She has a headful of blackish/brown hair and is so petite. We are don't know what to do with a little baby! She also was born on a COLD (about 19 degrees) and the first snowfall of the year. It was a cold, yet beautiful day!
I am aware her name is a little different and most people wonder why Elliot. To put it simply, I just absolutely love the name for a girl. It took several months to talk Jason into Elliot, but then one day he said...you know I really like Elliot, let's name her that. We will nickname her Elli...so call her what you wish. She will be called a "he" because of her name...but, that is okay...it is good to be different!
She is a pretty good girl. We got off to a rough start. She had some issues nursing and that caused us to stay in the hospital another night and day because she had jaundice. She stayed under the lights for 24 hours and then we were discharged. It was a long 4 days in the hospital...however...we have a healthy little girl and that is all that matters! Jason about when stir crazy in the hospital...but, I am blessed with a wonderful husband that stayed right beside Elliot and I the entire time.
So far, she is a good sleeper and now nurses well. So far....great baby. Prayers appreciated that she continues to be a great baby! She is a sleeper...she requires sleep like her mom!
She is still so very tiny. We had her 1 to 2 week check up yesterday and she was almost back to her birth weight....she was at 7.07 lbs. When we left the hospital she was at 6.12 lbs. So she is gaining. Her jaundice was cleared up and all was well. She did receive her first Hep B shot. Broke her heart...and kinda had a rough evening...but she recovered and is doing great!
Big brother LOVES his baby sister. When she was born, Callen was in the hallway waiting on her with my parents...as soon as she started crying we heard him tell my mom, "oh, she is crying." Then he saw her and he gave her kisses and said she is so cute. He always asks if her eyes are open and gets so excited when they are open. He also calls her pacifiers "flat tires" and always has one handy for her...even though she is not a fan of them. When she starts to cry, he says...."oh, no what are we going to do?" He gives her kisses all the time and sings to her. It is so sweet to see him love on her. So glad he loves her and is adjusting. We have had a few bumps...but, he is doing great with the transition.
My mom stayed a week with us and it was so nice having her here. My dad came back out for Thanksgiving and spent the weekend. It was horribly hard for them to leave and we miss them greatly. Jason took off work this week and it is so appreciated and needed. We have enjoyed him being at home and I am not looking forward to him going back to work and me being a full time mom to two kiddos. I know I can do it...it will be a rough few days I am sure, but we will get there. Prayers would be nice as we transition into our new lives.
We have been truly blessed with all types of outpourings of love. We are blessed with amazing friends and family. Words can not describe how thankful we are and how lucky we are to call such wonderful people friends and family. God is good and blessed us beyond measure.
Thank you for the prayers and love. We appreciate it greatly. Our little family is such a joy and I am one luck and blessed MOMMA....and wife.
