This past weekend was the first football game of the season in Stillwater, America. Jason and I have season tickets, so we try to attend a few games a year (well, Jason does). As everyone in the lovely state of Oklahoma knows, it has been crazy hot this summer and Saturday was no different. I am a fair weather football fan, so this game was not up there on the excitement list; however, we trudged along anyway.
We arrived in Stillwater around 2 and I was very excited/happy to be back in that wonderful college town where happy times sweep my mind. There is something about Stillwater that just makes me really happy and I love being there. Anyways. It was a little over 100 degrees at 2 p.m., so I knew it was going to be a long hot day, especially with a 10 month old. Callen was decked out in his orange and ready to experience game day for the first time.
We parked the car and started walking to the tailgate, with sweat dripping already. While walking I was thinking...why in the world are we doing this?!? We met up with the Blosser Family (a Balko family that we are close to and Callen's adopted Aunt and Uncle) and the tailgating fun began. Luckily the Blossers' had scouted a spot with not many people and some trees, so their tailgating spot was somewhat cool. After visiting with them for a while, we headed to see Uncle Coleman (my best friend from college) and his family. Callen loves Uncle Coleman and it was great to get to chat with Coleman and his family for a little while.
Luckily, my parents only live an hour from Stillwater so they gratefully came and picked up C so Jason and I could go to the game. Callen was extremely hot and he was one of those kids that did not have his shirt on in public (I said my child would always be clothed in public, but things change when you actually have kids). So, Callen was loaded up and he got to spend the evening with the Grandparents in Harrah. I am glad Callen got to spend a few hours in such a wonderful place, and HOMECOMING will be great this year showing him the excitement and house decks and the AGR house.
The rest of the Labor Day weekend was spent relaxing and enjoying family. Jason and I had a few things we had to do while in OKC, but other than that it was a nice little weekend. The weather turned to BEAUTIFUL days on Sunday and Callen got to play outside all day Sunday and most the day Monday, before we had to leave to head back home.
This week the weather is suppose to stay nice and cool, so Callen and I are spending our days outside enjoying the weather while it lasts. We have big plans to go to the park.
On another note, Callen started walking this weekend. Kinda. He will take 6-8 solo steps before he freaks out about what is happening. So, it won't be too much longer.
I am starting to order all of Callen's birthday stuff this week. Let the fun begin. Can't believe he is almost ONE.
