Tis' the Season

The Thanksgiving season is behind us (hard to believe) and now it is time for the madness of Christmas. Get excited!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week and weekend. Callen and I spent the week at my parents. Callen loved every minute of it and loved getting to be with his Ma and Pops (or so he calls them). They also loved it and today Callen and I are both in withdrawals...Callen is disappointed it is only me to play with and I am missing the company. We will get back into our routine by tomorrow!

Thanksgiving was wonderful....great food and wonderful family. We had a wonderful day. Callen enjoyed his Thanksgiving food too! He loved mac and cheese (of course), ham, and mashed potatoes. However, his favorite Thanksgiving treat was licking the beaters of whatever was getting mixed. He would get so excited when he saw the beaters out and he would lick them until there was nothing left on them. His favorite was the coolwhip and cream cheese beaters; however, the mashed potato beater was right up there with it.

I had plans to go Black Friday shopping at midnight on Friday morning....sadly, that did not happen. I am glad now that I did not get out at midnight to go...Jason and I went shopping at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and everything I wanted for Callen's Christmas was still there and still a good price! So, even though I didn't experience the craziness of going at midnight, I still got my stuff. So, I will take that as a win!

I also tried getting everyone in our family in the holiday spirit. We went and saw the Christmas lights in MWC. I love going to see Christmas lights, so I was pretty excited to see the first glimpse of them. Callen was not interested...he thought it was neat to stick his head out the window, but other than that he was more interested in watching Handy Manny than seeing the lights. I will try again...have no fear!

So, we are back home and we are trying to get the house transitioned into Christmas. Everything is sitting in the living room ready to be unpacked and put up (goal of the night). So far, I have the mantel finished and our stocking are hung by the fire (or fireplace). Callen's stocking is Big Bird, he picked it out himself and he is a big fan of his beak. I also let Callen pick out his own decorations for his tree. Yes, I know he is one and really doesn't know what he is doing...however, he did a pretty good job of picking things out. I will post pictures when we get it up.

I also got Callen a gingerbread house that we can decorate together or destroy, one of the two. I also plan on making Christmas ornaments and Christmas cookies with him in the next week or so.

I am excited to get the trees up and see Callen's reaction to the lights and bulbs...he has already called the bulbs BALLS and tried throwing them. So, it might be a fight this year. However, it will be all worth it in the end. The memories we will make will surpass any decoration or present!
