The past few weeks (or month) have simply been a whirlwind for our family. It seems like we have had something going on every day/night/weekend since early November. And now that I have a moment to catch my breath, I can honestly say that our family has been really busy lately...making it extremely difficult to find a moment to even catch up on here. I will try harder in 2013.
After we celebrated Callen's birthday, we had to make a quick trip to OKC for one of our friend's engagement party. We got to see friends that we had not seen in a while and it was nice to spend the evening with them.
Then we got to celebrate Thanksgiving and have a relaxing weekend with family and just some family time with the three of us. Our Thanksgiving was extremely laid back this year and it was kind of nice to just enjoy the day and eat whenever. Callen loved the corn casserole and turkey. We have so much to be thankful for this year and I was blessed to be able to celebrate a day with family and look back on all my blessings.
I did not go Black Friday shopping...I easily talked myself out of it. I did buy a few things online and I feel like I got some great deals...still kinda pumped about it! I still have the majority of my Christmas shopping left. I can't believe Christmas is in just three weeks and I have only a handful of things together.
This past week Jason and I went to Minnesota for Jason's best friend's wedding. Before we left for the 'Frozen North', we got to spend a few hours with my sister and nephew. We have not gotten to see them in almost two years...so we were all excited to spend some time with them. Callen loved Ethan and they became fast friends. Callen still talks about 'Bird' (Ethan)....Ethan had on an Angry Birds shirt when we saw them and the name 'Bird' has stuck. Ethan does not enjoy it; however, trying to get a two year old to stop calling him bird is a little difficult. Ethan is still in Oklahoma, so I am hoping we are able to see him again before he leaves.
Anyways, MINNESOTA. Jason and I left OKC at 6:20 Thursday morning. It sounded like a great idea at the time...looking back, having to wake up at 3:30 was not such a great idea! We arrived in Minnesota around 10:45 and had plans of going to the Mall of America. However, before we could go to the mall we had to get our luggage...and guess what?!? It did not arrive at our destination. As many times as Jason and I have traveled, this has never happened to either of us. It would not have been a big deal at all, expect for the fact that all of Jason's clothes for the wedding were in the suitcase. And did I mention that Jason was the best man? Yup, we had turned into those people...not prepared or together for someone else's wedding...horrible feeling! However, our luggage arrived later that evening and we were able to get it before we left for Elbow Lake, MN.
Back to the mall...not impressed. It was huge, but just a mall. I can at least mark it off the list of places I want to go. Jason and I did ride a few rides and did get to buy Callen a shirt from MOA.
Minnesota was fun and we enjoyed our time with wonderful friends. I learned a lot about Minnesota vocabulary and ways of cooking and eating. More to come on that...maybe a whole posted dedicated to Minnesota ways!
Now, we are back home and trying to to dig out of the past few weeks. My house looks like a tornado hit it and so I am slowly trying to climb my way out of each room. Jason has an insanely busy week this week and I know he is exhausted, so pray he is able to get everything completed with a sound mind and rested!
More to come. Love you all!
