The next few months are going to be crazy ones for our little family. Jason has a lot of basketball for the next two months and I have a lot of testing stuff to do for the next four or so months. Needless to say our house is a busy one as of late. Last week I was getting pretty overwhelmed with the amount of stuff on my plate that I needed to accomplish in the coming weeks. Mainly to do with my little job dealing with state testing. I had dates that things had to be in by and due to the fact that I hadn't even started some of things that were coming up due I was beginning to stress out (imagine that, me stressing out). Jason also had 6 nights of basketball in 8 days, so I knew he would not be home much to help me with Callen and allow me to get my testing stuff accomplished. So, Callen and I packed up Friday afternoon and headed to OKC for a week of a break for this mom and a little spoiling for Callen. I am no longer stressed, due to the fact that my testing stuff is pretty much accomplished (even attending my online meetings I needed to attend) and I also got a little retail therapy in. Shopping does a soul good. I am a firm believer that shopping makes life better.
If anyone has ever grown up in a "city" location and then move to a "farm town" then you know the feeling I have. I love our little town and the people in it, but I sure do miss the convince of city life. It would be nice to be able to go 5 miles to Target or just decide to go to "the city" just because. Instead, I now plan my trips to "the city" with a mile long list of stores and restaurants (yes, it is on the list) that must be hit before going back to our little town. This trip I was in major need of retail therapy and it seems as though my retail therapy list continues to grow and grow and grow.
I have shopped at Target (I will have to go back for a final good-bye), the Outlet Mall (got amazing deals), Mardel, Smashburgers, Hobby Lobby and that is just a small dent in my mile long list. On the top of the list is a trip to Whole Foods (so excited to experience it), Sara Sara Cupcakes and Big Truck Tacos. Sad, I know. And we also have a mile long list of people we must see before heading home.
I accomplished my goal of retail therapy on this trip and also getting my testing stuff accomplished and I can now go back to our little town rejuvenated and ready to tackle our crazy lives.
Callen has enjoyed his time with May-May and Pops-Pops-Pops (his names he has created for the grandparents) and he is one spoiled kid. He has once again fallen in love with the staircase and has spent the majority of the week throwing whatever he can find off the balcony or down the stairs. However, he can only get up the stairs, he can't get down. So, it is a continual routine of up and down the stairs for everyone (good exercise).
I am so blessed to have an outlet to catch my breath and get away when I need it. I am refreshed and will soon be joining life once again.
