I will be honest. I am not the type of person that has a schedule or lives by a schedule, nor do I fly by the seat of my pants. However, I find it extremely difficult to have set times for things. I believe (in my mind) that if I have a schedule and if I do not live up to the schedule or it is not running on time then I feel like I am a failure or that the whole "schedule" is blown.
With that....I am trying to become a "schedule" person. I will be honest...I have an insane ability to remember things. I have no idea why, but I can. Not so much important "smart people" things (would have come in handy back in the school days), but more like details and times and things that I or the family are suppose to do. And I hate being late (I will always be early). So, I have never really needed a schedule (to me). Granted, when Callen was a baby and I worked and we both had to be up, ready and out the door by 7:20 A.M., Callen had a sleep schedule. Which was a lifesaver for all of us. Now, not so much.
However, after doing some serious research on toddlers; I have decided that it is time for our family to have a schedule. Like anyone, I want my child to thrive and be ready for school. Callen is a pretty smart cookie, but I believe he needs some structure and routine to his day. Not just a "let's do whatever all day long" (like we have now).
I have always etched time each day for learning with Callen. We have words, colors, shapes, and some pages that he has to work on throughout the week. But, with a schedule we have a time that we do it. I have spent several hours writing down what our day is like, where Callen is at (developmentally, etc.), what my goals are for each day, and what needs to get done. I based all those things and put it into a time format. Now, it is just following it.
Before you know it I will have turned into this person..http://pinterest.com/pin/34973334576039482/. Ha. Who am I kidding?
