January was full of basketball for our family. Jason had a lot of games, so that kept him pretty busy. The biggest milestone was leaving Callen for a few days while Jason and I went skiing with friends. Looking back now, that seems like such a long time ago. It was a wonderful trip and Callen had a great time with Ra and Papa, without Mom and Dad.
April was an extremely busy month for our family. Basketball season was over, but state testing was just beginning. I spent all of April at the school working on all the testing stuff. Callen got to spend a week in OKC with Ra and Papa. He went to the zoo and had a great time playing. We also celebrated Easter and had a wonderful day with family and friends. However, Callen did make his first trip to the emergency room in April. He had second degree burns on his foot from stepping on aluminum foil while Jason was smoking meat for Easter. He was a trooper, and it healed and caused no issues!
May was a rebuilding month for us. We celebrated my Dad's 60th birthday with a surprise party and about 50 friends and family. Callen also participated in his first Balko track meet. Hopefully this year he will actually run it by himself! Our little family went to the Garden City zoo as a family outing and had a great time with each other and Callen had fun looking at the animals. Callen really started getting into technology during the month of May and started really talking and learning his letters and letter sounds.
June was the beginning of a fun summer. Callen and I spent a lot of time swimming outside and swinging. Callen played a lot with Halle this summer and had a great time! We also went to OKC for a few days and went to the Children's Museum in Seminole, OK. Callen loved it! We also went to the zoo (again). We went to the lake a few times and Callen loved riding on the boat and tube. June also meant wheat harvest. Callen somewhat enjoyed riding on the combine. He liked to push the buttons and take a nap or two.
July was an extremely sad month for our family. Our beloved Bear (dog) died. She was such a great dog and we miss her so much. We also had to say good-bye to our best friends, The Blosser Family. They moved back to their hometown area. We miss seeing them weekly and watching Thunder games together, hanging out and being apart of our family. However, they are doing great and are happy. We spent a weekend at the lake with Corey, Kathy and the boys. Love spending time with them. We had a great weekend! July also meant Falls Creek. Callen did not go this year. I was the only female sponsor, and felt like my job needed to benefit the girls that were going to camp, instead of a mom. Callen stayed the week with Ra and Papa and had a great stay. Callen also started potty training in July and did great! We also turned his room into Toy Story mania and put a full size bed instead of the baby bed. Still doesn't sleep all night by himself...however, he is doing better.
September was fun month! We went to the Liberal Air Show in early September and Callen had so much fun. He really did not care about the planes, slept through most of it. But, he loved the blow up toys and spent hours playing on them. We also made a mad dash to Amarillo to do some shopping for Callen's birthday. While the experience was not a pleasant one, we still accomplished what we set out for! We also took Callen to OKC to spend a day with Thomas the Train. Callen had a great time, even though the train ride was through some shady parts of the city. He loved playing with the trains on the train table and getting a Thomas stamp. I took Callen to see his first movie in a theatre, Finding Nemo 3D. He loved every minutes of it! We also watched The Bison play some football and cheer them on to a wonderful season. We took family pictures and two year pictures in Beaver and they turned out great! Callen was also 100% potty trained by the end of September! No more diapers for this 23 month old!!!! Proud MOM!
October was a special month! Callen celebrated his 2 year birthday! October also means OSU Homecoming. We made the trip to Stillwater on Callen's birthday weekend to visit old friends, see some great house decs, and watch some Cowboy football. Callen attended his first college football game, and lasted till half time. He loved watching Bullet run and waving his wheat. He enjoyed looking at the house decs and visiting Jason's frat house. We also got to visit Lala and Uncle Eddy (The Blosser family). We had a Thomas birthday party at Ra and Papa's house on Callen's birthday, including a Thomas Cake. During the month Callen and I also went to a pumpkin patch with Dana and Halle. While it was a drive, it was a lot of fun! We also went trick or treating at the school and in Perryton. Callen did a great job saying trick or treat (ick or reat) and saying thank you. He was an old man for Halloween, and everyone loved his costume!
November was a great month too! Callen had his two year birthday party! We were Toy Story'd out! Callen had so much fun and we are all so blessed by everyone who came and helped celebrate such a special day! My best friend came all the way from Tulsa to party it up with us! It was such a wonderful day! We also had Thanksgiving (very low key) at our house. Callen loved all the food! We also got to see my sister and nephew for a day! Jason and I also went to Minnesota for a wedding and left Callen with Ra and Papa. Jason and I had a good trip...neat to see that area and the Mall of America. Callen had a great time with Ra and Papa. He even got to play with his cousin, Ethan. He also got his picture taken with Santa and he picked out his ornament (a train) for the year. Jason also got a new pickup.
December means one word to anyone...CHRISTMAS! We had a great Christmas month....granted it was busy, but fun! We did 5 Christmas' in a week. So worth it though! Callen had a wonderful Christmas and so did Jason and I. We ate way to much and did a whole lot of nothing (which was nice). Callen and I made ginger bread houses with Halle and we also made some Christmas cookies. We also got to celebrate Christmas with Lala and Uncle Eddy, Tanner and Girlfriend (The Blosser family). Callen got a ton of cool new toys and he had so much fun opening them all! We also got to hang out with our wonderful friends on New Year's Eve. Callen even made it till midnight!
