Saturday night we celebrated with family and friends for Callen's 1st BIRTHDAY! We had a Backyardigan's celebration with lots (I mean) lots of food, sweets, streamers, balloons, and LOVE. Callen had a great time seeing everyone and playing with the kids. He was excellent the entire night. Of course, I thought I had enough camera battery, but I forgot to turn it off at one point, so it went dead. Luckily, my mom got all the action for C-Man's big day, so I will post pics as soon as I get them.
We had 50 balloons throughout our house. Some of the Backyardigan characters and other fun balloons. Callen loved the balloons and was so excited when Jason and I brought them home from blowing them up. I wish I got a picture to capture his face. It was precious and all the work of blowing up and tying that many balloons was worth that face that he gave. Jason smoked pork loin for the occasion and I made all the sides. Some were Callen's favorites, like Mac and Cheese, fruit and potato salad. We had a ton of food for everyone to enjoy. We are now enjoying days of leftovers.
Callen got some great presents from everyone. He was really good opening the presents. He sat on Jason's lap and watched him open them all and he looked as though he was reading all the cards and taking his time to digest all of the fun. Some of his favorites are a Cookie Monster that talks and eats cookies, tractors, a computer, books, construction set, his wagon, 4-wheeler and a popper that looks like a combine (he continually spins the front of it and watches the corn pop in it). He loved all the presents and we are thankful and blessed for such a wonderful group of family and friends.
I will post pictures and more later...right now, my house is a mess and is in need of a little pick me up from the birthday weekend. We are celebrating all week Callen's big birthday. It will be great fun!!
