Jinx

I know my post yesterday said our family was on the mend...well, I was WRONG.

Yesterday Callen had such a great day.  He was so happy and content and so ready to play.  He quickly went to sleep last night at 7 P.M. and slept great till about 11:30.   At 11:30 he suddenly started tossing and turning and whining.  I thought it was just him having problems going back to sleep, so after I rocked him back to sleep I put him back in bed and he started crying.  We rocked for another hour before I put him back to bed, and the exact same thing happened.  When I picked him up again, I noticed he was burning up.  After hunting down the thermometer in the dark, I quickly learned that Callen was just not having problems going back to sleep; but instead, he was SICK.  He was running a 101 temp and just pulling at his ears and crying.

We spent the restless night in the recliner praying for 8:30 to come so I could call the doctor.  After the long wait to visit the doctor this afternoon my diagnosis for Callen had been confirmed.  Callen has a double ear infection with the right ear drum almost about to burst.  GREAT.  He is still running a high temperature; however, he now has an antibiotic and pain reliever/fever reducer in his system, so hopefully they will both kick in quickly.

Poor baby, I just don't see how a sickness can hit so FAST.  So glad it was not too serious and hopefully he will be feeling better by tomorrow.  He is one tired little boy and I am one tired Momma.  However, my list of to-do's is not getting shorter especially since we are leaving for the weekend tomorrow afternoon.

So, I guess I jinxed myself on our family getting better.  Hopefully after this spell our family will be on the mend and fingers crossed no more sickness for a while!
